ABOUT CIRKL

ORGANISATION

'CIRKL' is organised by 30CC and CIRKLABO,
in collaboration with Cirkus in Beweging and the city of Leuven.

The festival enjoys the warm support of
the Flemish Government, the province of Vlaams-Brabant, UITPAS, Cinema ZED, Sint-Pieterscollege, Hotel IBIS, Waaiberg and residential care home Dijlehof.

CIRKLABO

Since the beginning of this year, Leuven can also count on a new circus workshop. CIRKLABO focuses on the development of circus art and supports artists in their creations, artistic research and reflections on circus art. CIRKL gives you an insight into this new breeding ground in Leuven and introduces you to some innovative, early productions. Discover more information on www.cirklabo.be

BACKGROUND

Circus is an art form with the natural potential to appeal to a wide and diverse audience.
That is why Leuven is strongly committed to circus.
With the festival CIRKL we put Leuven on the map as a true circus town.

The city has a vibrant circus scene all year long, in different venues and on various levels.
Cirkus in Beweging, one of the largest circus schools in Europe, is probably known best.
For years they've been building a strong and broad circus education, guided by their motto "circus for all".

Besides this circus school, you'll also find a circus department, imbedded in the sports programme of the Koninklijk Atheneum Redingenhof,
and most of all the solid circus programme at 30CC.
The cultural centre has a long tradition in showcasing both established as well as upcoming artists, and in facilitating their creations by offering accomodation for rehearsals, master classes and experimentations in the 30CC/Predikherenkerk.
